Bentota Beach Hotel received a bronze award at the recently-concluded National Green Awards 2012 organised by the Central Environmental Authority (CEA).
The objective of National Green Awards is to reward entities which contribute towards maintaining a cleaner and greener environment by implementing comprehensive environmental management systems ensuring sustainable development of the country.
“Bentota Beach Hotel understands and acknowledges its responsibility in conserving and protecting the environment in and around the resort, not only for the purpose of ensuring sustainable business, but to take care of the planet and preserve its resources for future generations,” said Sanjeeva Perera, General Manager, Bentota Beach Hotel.
He added: “The resort practices a focused mechanism on energy conservation, controlling our carbon footprint, conservation of biodiversity, optimising water usage and waste management which enables the resort to achieve business goals by minimising environmental destruction.”
Contributing to the commitment of sustainability development under the pledge of ‘I will be Green,’ Bentota Beach Hotel has been rewarded other green awards such as Green Globe Certification and ISO 14001 certification.
