Best Western Elyon Colombo welcomes Renuke Coswatte as General Manager

Best Western Elyon Colombo announced the appointment of seasoned Sri Lankan hotelier Renuke Coswatte as General Manager of its 59-room hotel in Colombo.

Best Western Elyon Colombo becamBUP_DFT_DFT-13-8e the first ever Best Western hotel in Sri Lanka when it opened in 2014. The hotel has 59 tastefully designed contemporary rooms and a range of modern facilities, including a stunning rooftop bar.

Despite being in operation for less than a year, the hotel has already received accolades and awards from Trip Advisor and Booking.com.

Commenting on his new role Coswatte noted, “I am absolutely delighted to be returning back to Sri Lanka to oversee Elyon Colombo as part of ‘The world’s largest hotel chain’. I look forward to working with a strong team to deliver world-renowned intuitive and personalised Best Western service to local and international guests.”

With nearly two decades of solid industry experience spanning Sri Lanka, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, Coswatte joins the hotel from the Sur Plaza Hotel, in the Sultanate of Oman where he was General Manager. Through intensive operational as well as sales and marketing efforts, Coswatte successfully drove the hotel to become a full-fledged hotel destination backed by a well-trained local workforce. 

Prior to that, through his roles as Hotel Manager, Jetwing St. Andrew’s, Nuwara Eliya and Assistant Manager, Jetwing Beach, Negombo, Front Office Manager, Carlton Crest Hotel, Melbourne, Australia and Assistant Sales Manager, Ceylon Inter-Continental Hotel, he acquired in-depth operations knowledge and expertise.

Coswatte holds an MBA from Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia and is a Member of the Institute of Hospitality, UK (MIH). He has also completed a Higher Diploma in Hotel and Tourism Management with Second Class Honours from the International Hotel Management Institute, Lucerne, Switzerland.
