Best Western has signed its first hotel in Kuching, the capital of the state of Sarawak in Malaysia.
The new-build Best Western Plus Kuching, scheduled to open in 2018, will offer 200 rooms and suites, all featuring flat-screen televisions with international satellite channels and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Facilities at the new hotel will include a restaurant serving local and international cuisine, a swimming pool as well as meeting and event space.
“Kuching has been growing in stature for several years now, and is becoming a key part of the East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA). Having hosted several key regional events, such as the ASEAN Tourism Forum and Routes Asia, Kuching is now firmly on the map for both leisure and business travel,” said Olivier Berrivin, Best Western Hotels & Resorts’ managing director of international operations – Asia.
“As such, it was important that Best Western established a presence in this fast-growing emerging market. And I am thrilled that we have been able to achieve this with a brand new Best Western Plus hotel.”
Best Western Hotels & Resorts currently operates three hotels in Malaysia: Best Western i-City Shah Alam, Best Western Petaling Jaya, and Best Western Premier The Haven Ipoh. Additionally, Best Western is planning to expand significantly in the country in the coming years.
