Reuters: England’s national tourism agency Visit Britain on Monday (9 March) appointed Khan as its brand ambassador for its Bollywood Britain campaign.
The agency hopes that its new campaign will attract more Indian tourists not only to popular English destinations but Wales, Scotland and other ‘untouched’ places.
Khan said he was honoured to be part of the campaign as he had special memories with the country having spent a significant part of his life studying and making films there.
“I think it’s nice because I love India and I also love England. I think we shot, like I said in the film (Visit Britain promotional film), some of our best films in London. We’ve had some of our nicest holidays in England. It’s an amazing country, it is a varied country. You can have different kinds of holidays, you can have lots of fun, you can have a quiet cultural time, you can have an exciting nightlife kind of time or you can have a very romantic and quiet time, I mean you can do anything,” said Khan, in India’s showbiz capital Mumbai.
As per reports, Visit Britain has partnered with German based travel firm TUI to design holiday packages and promote destinations across the UK which are featured in Bollywood movies. Khan has now joined the list of several Indian celebrities promoting tourist destinations.
Aamir Khan promotes for India, Amitabh Bachchan for western Gujarat state, Akshay Kumar for Canada and actress Dia Mirza for Japan.
