Cantaloupe Hotels, Sri Lanka’s contemporary luxury boutique hotel chain is excited to announce that it was presented with a Gold Award for the website category at the recently concluded 10th Annual W³ Awards.
The W³ is the first major international web competition to be accessible from the biggest agencies to the smallest firms. The awards are judged by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts, an invitation-only body consisting of top-tier professionals from a “Who’s Who” of acclaimed media, interactive, advertising, and marketing firms.
The awards honours outstanding websites, web marketing, web video, mobile sites/apps and social content created by some of the best interactive agencies, designers, and creators worldwide.
“We are amazed and proud to have won gold at the W3. Our team at Cantaloupe has worked hard to portray and reflect the brand through this website. It took months of planning before we could piece together a site with content and photos contributed by travelers,” said Cantaloupe & Co. Director Sales and Marketing Nadeem Rajabdeen. “To have that work recognised by the AIVA and brands such as Ralph Lauren which has always inspired us from the inception is immensely gratifying.”
Cantaloupe bagged the Gold Award in the category of ‘Websites for Hotels and Lodging’ at the 10th International W3 awards which had received over 4,800 submissions this year alone including many from Fortune 500 companies.
Describing the site, Nadeem added that Cantaloupe had chosen to work with eMarketing Eye to create and conceptualise this website. “They crafted a plan which not only covered the aesthetics but end results and target markets. During our first meetings I mentioned that we wished to win an award and I’m glad the hard work paid off.”
Websites were graded for creativity, usability, navigation, functionality, visual design and ease of use. “We were amazed at the caliber and quality of work we received this year from the smallest agencies to the biggest firms worldwide. As the Web continues to expand in new and exciting ways, our winners continue to truly push the envelope of Internet creativity and web design,” Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts Director Linda Day had said.
AIVA members include executives from organisations such as AgencyNet, Conde Nast, Disney, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Microsoft, MTV Networks, Polo Ralph Lauren, Sotheby’s Institute of Art, Wired, Yahoo! and others.
Cantaloupe Villas is the hospitality wing of the Cantaloupe & Co group which currently owns two boutique properties in the Southern Sri Lanka. The company is presently working on completing two other projects in Midigama and Mirissa, which is due to be open in 2016.
