The Chamber of Tourism and Industry Sri Lanka has commenced its membership expansion drive program from this week.
A team of chamber officials has visited Sigiriya, Matale, Kandy and Nuwara Eliya areas and met several groups of tourism stakeholders in these areas which included owners of tourist hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, home stay accommodations, spice gardens and members of tourist drivers associations.
Many issues and problems presently facing the tourism stakeholders in these areas were brought to the notice of chamber officials and they promised to find necessary solutions with the relevant authorities. The team of chamber officials comprised Chamber President A.M. Jaufer, Secretary General U.P.S. Pathirana and National Coordinator Donald Rajapakse.
In all locations where chamber officials had discussions with their members, the efforts of the chamber were highly welcomed and supported to expand its membership base in those areas by recognising the Chamber of Tourism as the only driving force in assisting small and medium scale tourism entrepreneurs in the country.
In Nuwara Eliya, chamber officials also had an opportunity to meet Mayor of Nuwara Eliya Mahinda Dodampegamage and discuss many issues related to the tourism industry in the Nuwara Eliya District. Jaufer also handed over a profile and the future program of chamber activities to the Mayor.
