Cinnamon Air, Sri Lanka’s premier domestic airline, operating out of its dedicated terminal at BIA, has announced the launch of its newest product, “Cinnamon Air Pass”. Cinnamon Air’s latest offering, “Cinnamon Air Pass”, catering exclusively to Sri Lankan nationals, corporates, the diplomatic community and expatriates resident in Sri Lanka, is a special package of advance purchase fares tailored with frequent domestic flyers in mind. Cinnamon Air Pass affords all eligible passengers and organisations the opportunity to purchase a special package of “6 tickets for the price of 3” on any scheduled Cinnamon Air flights. Cinnamon Air Pass fares are available to one named traveller and up to three nominees for travel on any chosen sector in either direction. Passengers will travel in exclusive speed and comfort, with the added pleasure of soaking up the splendours of Sri Lanka from an unmatchable vantage point in the sky. Commenting on the introduction of these special fares, Cinnamon Air Director Romesh David stated that Cinnamon Air has seen a steady increase in the number of passengers, mainly foreign tourist travellers on their scheduled flights. The new offer, Cinnamon Air Pass, aims to increase the usage among potential local commuter traffic, especially business, corporate and leisure travellers utilising their services to seamlessly and efficiently connect different parts of the island. He observed that there had been growing requests from frequent travellers within the local corporate and expatriate business community and holidaymakers, for Cinnamon Air to provide a stress free, time efficient and value for money alternative to road travel, which prompted the introduction of these new fares across all of Cinnamon Air’s scheduled routes. Emphasising that these special fares are not solely targeted at corporate and official travellers, but would also appeal to travellers who want to make the most of their leisure time, he cited the example of golfers who could now easily travel to courses across the country within minutes, making a couple of rounds outside Colombo over a weekend a feasible and very enjoyable option. Adding a sense of excitement to some journeys for many travellers would, of course, be the experience and thrill of water landings and take-offs. Cinnamon Air operates daily scheduled flights from its base at the Bandaranaike International Airport and in some cases Water’s Edge, to key destinations across the country including Kandy, Sigiriya, Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Dickwella and Koggala. Cinnamon Air Pass fares are available for purchase on all these routes. Cinnamon Air, owned and operated by Saffron Aviation Ltd., is a joint venture between Sri Lanka’s largest listed conglomerate, John Keells Holdings, MMBL Leisure Holdings (a part of the Mercantile Merchant Bank Group) and Phoenix Ventures (parent of the Brandix Group, Sri Lanka’s largest garment manufacturer). The Airline operates a fleet of two Cessna 208 amphibian aircraft and one Cessna 208B Grand Caravan aircraft, with scheduled services to key inland points in Sri Lanka. Cinnamon Air also offers charter services to and between all airports and water aerodromes in Sri Lanka. The Airline is based out of Katunayake where it operates a dedicated domestic terminal (within the precincts of the BIA) and also has its own purpose built hangar and maintenance facilities.
