Cinnamon Air to fly from Waters Edge to Nuwara Eliya this season

Cinnamon Air, Sri Lanka’s premier domestic airline, will add a daily flight from Colombo (Waters Edge and BIA) to Nuwara Eliya’s Lake Gregory and back, for 10 days in April this year. On every day between 10 and 20 April, Cinnamon Air will offer holidaymakers travelling up to Nuwara Eliya for the ‘Season” a ride into the hill country in under half an hour.
Cinnamon Air will operate its Cessna 208 Caravan Amphibian aircraft on the route, carrying up to eight passengers in absolute comfort on a flight from Waters Edge to Nuwara Eliya that will last approximately 25 minutes.
Commenting on the introduction of the flight, Romesh David, Director, Cinnamon Air said that introducing this flight for a specific period would give seasonal travellers the option of visiting Nuwara Eliya for as little as a day or two without having to endure an arduous 6-7 hour journey in each direction. Between 10 and 20 of April, the Airline will operate daily flights departing BIA at 9 a.m. and from Water’s Edge at 9:30 a.m., with the return flight departing Nuwara Eliya at 10:40 a.m. to Waters Edge and then BIA.
The regular one way fare from BIA or Water’s Edge to Nuwara Eliya or vice versa is listed at $ 153 plus taxes. Tickets are available for purchase through all travel agents, SriLankan Airlines ticket offices and via the airline’s website, www.cinnamonair.com.
All Cinnamon Air scheduled flights operate in code share with SriLankan Airlines, consequent to which they are also be available for sale throughout the SriLankan Airlines network and all travel agents around the world via global distribution systems, under a “UL” designated flight number. The introduction of this flight would provide all SriLankan Airlines passengers with the option of a useful and important extension of travel options within Sri Lanka during the popular Nuwara Eliya Season, at the time of purchasing their international travel.
Cinnamon Air, owned and operated by Saffron Aviation Ltd., is a joint venture between Sri Lanka’s largest listed conglomerate, John Keells Holdings, MMBL Leisure Holdings (a part of the Mercantile Merchant Bank Group) and Phoenix Ventures (parent of the Brandix Group, Sri Lanka’s largest garment manufacturer).
The Airline operates a fleet of two Cessna 208 amphibian aircraft and one Cessna 208B Grand Caravan aircraft, with scheduled services to key inland points in Sri Lanka. Cinnamon Air also offers charter services to and between all Airports and Water Aerodromes in Sri Lanka. The Airline is based out of Katunayake where it operates a dedicated domestic terminal (within the precincts of the BIA) and also has its own purpose built hangar and maintenance facilities.
