Cinnamon Citadel Kandy shines at Absolut Bartender Challenge

The Absolut Bartender Challenge cocktail competition was held in Kandy recently, organised by Periceyl Ltd., in collaboration with Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management and the Kandy Hoteliers Association. Fifteen hotels participated in the cocktail competition, including Grand Hotel, Hill Top, Mahaweli Reach Hotel, Earls Regency,

Hunas Falls, Amaya Hills and other leading hotels in the region. Cinnamon Citadel Kandy emerged first runner up at the ‘Flair’ and ‘Classic’ categories with Duminda Gunarathne winning first runner up for the Flair category and K.W.W.B. Kapukotuwa winning first runner up for the Classic category, along with a special award for ‘Best Public Relations and Salesmanship’. Both bartenders have taken part in many competitions in the past – including the prestigious Marie Brizard Bartenders cocktail competitions held each year, with Duminda bagging 1st runner up at the regional competition in 2012 and later becoming the champion in the flaring category in 2013. Kapukotuwa too emerged 1st runner up in the flaring category in the same competition. “It has been an absolute privilege, having talented members such as Duminda and Kapukotuwa with us, who have made our entire team proud as a result of this great win. We continuously encourage our staff to participate in competitions such as these in order to shine at what they are truly talented in.
