Cinnamon Grand recognised and rewarded the loyalty and dedication of long service associates who have served the hotel for periods of over five, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 years. A total of 178 staff members were felicitated at the event, held in the grandest of fashion at the hotel’s Oak Room on 25 March. Recipients received certificates and gold sovereigns based on their years of service.
General Manager Rohan Karr said on this event that the hotel owes much of its success to its associates who have served with loyalty, integrity and dedication. “As Sri Lanka’s largest five star property and benchmark in the country’s hospitality industry, the Cinnamon Grand has reached great heights since its inception. Much, if not all, of its success is most certainly credited to the people behind the operations. Those who have committedly been the driving force, having devoted themselves to the organization in the long run. Today we celebrate these people and thank them for their admiral and applaudable commitment, in setting the stage for and working towards Cinnamon Grand’s continuous growth and development.”
Karr was also among the recipients, having completed 10 years of service to hotel. He received his award from Dilani Alagaratnam, President, Group HR & Legal at John Keells Holdings.
The awards night, complete with great entertainment, food and music made for a memorable evening for the associates and their families. Popular comedian, dramatist and actor Vijaya Nandasiri had the audience in fits of laughter during a skit performance, while Sirasa Super Star nominee Sanka Dineth as well as Cinnamon Grand’s own vocalists Shehan Wanigasekera (Sales& Marketing) and Rushani Jayakody (Marketing Communications & Sustainability) serenaded the crowd with their soulful harmonies. Meanwhile, the locally renowned outfit The Marians rocked the dance floor all night long with their after party playlist of crowd favourites.
Notably, N.N. Jayasundara from the Kitchen Department, H.A.R.S. Philip and K.G. Piyaratne from the Finance Department and H.B. Manel from the Housekeeping Department were saluted for serving Cinnamon Grand’s team for over 30 years. They were gifted two sovereign coins each.
