This mega familiarisation tour, organised by Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts in partnership with SriLankan airlines, saw the travel agents explore several locations of the island, solving a series of clues relating to popular tourist sites of Sri Lanka. The objective of the tour was to experience the best of Sri Lanka and thereby promote the destination in the French market. Flora visited the island as the official ambassador for Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts in France and gave away the prize to the winning team. The Treasure Hunt mega familiarisation tour comes as just another of the many diverse initiatives and events Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts have embarked on this past year in their efforts to revolutionise Sri Lanka’s tourism industry. The event as a whole created much needed awareness on what Sri Lanka as a destination has to offer and generated interest amongst the French travel agents. The visit of the reigning Miss France to conclude the tour further endorsed the strength of the relationship between the two countries, which was first initiated when Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts hosted the finalists of the pageant on tour late last year. The awards ceremony took place at Cinnamon Bey Beruwala on 16 October. The French partners for the Treasure Hunt mega familiarisation tour were Presence Assistance Tourisme, the travel insurance provider, along with I’echo touristique and la Quotidienne.fr. The contingent was flown courtesy of the National Carrier – SriLankan Airlines, whilst all tour arrangements were facilitated by Walkers Tours as the official transport provider.
