Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo wins big at 23rd All Island Marie Brizard National Bartenders competition

Organised by the Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association in association with Marie Brizard Skyy Vodka, the 23rd All Island Skyy Vodka and Marie Brizard National Bartenders competition took place on 5 July and saw Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo victorious, with Chamari Jayadini Herath carrying away the All Island winner’s trophy. Coached by the Training Department of Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo, Herath’s winning streak started with her being selected at the In-house Cosmos cocktail competition held in March, to represent Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo at the Colombo regional cocktail competition at Waters Edge, to the Semi-finals at Mt. Lavinia Hotel on 4 July, all the way to the finals where she brought to fruition all the hard work, dedication and talent, to emerge triumphant and carry away the All Island Classic category trophy. Herath’s work does not stop at this. The winner of the Classical All Island along with the Winner of the Flair category will fly to Singapore with all expenses paid, to represent Sri Lanka at the 23rd Asia Pacific Bartender of the Year Cocktail Competition to be held on 13 August. This is a four day event beginning on 11 August, with the welcoming of the participants from all the countries of the region, followed by a Welcome dinner. This is truly an honored moment for Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo, to have one of its own associates representing Sri Lanka at such a prestigious event. Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo firmly believes in management commitment to the success of their associates and continues to lend their fullest support and encouragement in the development of the associates, both talent wise and in their employment. Thus, helping them to grow and move forward in their careers, living to the true spirit of the organisation’s pledges; ‘I will care’ and ‘I will stand out wherever I am’. The versatility and abundance of talent at Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo is very much in evidence as it saw five associates reaching the semi-final level, two in the Flair category and three in the Classic category.  At the Colombo region, under the Flair category, Rumesh Asanka of 7°North and Binoy Perera of The Lounge displayed their showmanship and creative routine resulting in Rumesh Asanka being adjudged as Champion Flair Bartender Colombo region and Binoy Perera from The Lounge capturing the 2nd runner-up spot. Moving on to the Classics, Tharushka Mendis, based at The Lounge and Chinthaka Thilakarathna, from 7° North reached the semi-finals and Dinusha Vilashini, former champion of the Classic category, ventured from the practical and was one of three individuals from all participants taking part, who was conferred with the WSET-UK scholarship after sitting for a written exam. Cinnamon Lakeside Colombo is proud of the achievements of so many Associates and along with the Management and the entire staff wishes Herath all success in Singapore.
