Cinnamon Lodge Habarana, part of the renowned Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts chain, recently bagged the award for ‘Sri Lanka’s Leading Family Resort’ at the World Travel Awards ceremony, which took place at Sun Aqua Vilu Reef Resort in the Maldives. The prestigious World Travel Awards program is recognised globally, as the ultimate hallmark of excellence and eminence in the sphere of travel, tourism and hospitality. 

Established in 1993, the World Travel Awards celebrates 24 years of acknowledging, rewarding and celebrating excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. The annual program which is renowned to be the most comprehensive and illustrious in the industry, traverses the globe with its grand tour – a series of regional ceremonies that recognise industrial excellence within each continent, culminating in a grand finale at the end of the year.

Each year, the World Travel Awards programme highlights the very best global hotels, airlines and tour operators from Asia, Australasia, Africa, the Middle East and Europe. This year, Sri Lanka’s top hotels from across the island participated in the annual WTA program. Additional categories and awards presented at the event included ‘Sri Lanka’s Leading Hotel’, ‘Sri Lanka’s Leading Business Hotel’, ‘Sri Lanka’s Leading Boutique Hotel’, ‘Sri Lanka’s Leading Resort Hotel’ and much more.
