Citrus Leisure PLC, in keeping with its promise to build and operate distinctive hotel properties, is nearing completion of the unique 5-star Citrus Waskaduwa, which is slated to open its doors to its first guests in winter 2013. The 150-roomed property promises a holiday experience like no other, and is designed and built with elegance in mind. Citrus Waskaduwa features extensive banquet facilities, including one of the biggest banquet halls in the country.
Citrus Leisure constantly endeavours to create unique experiences for guests and believes that placing the right people at the helm is critical to creating the right conditions within the chain of hotels. In a further enhancement of the solid credentials of its senior management, Citrus Leisure recently appointed Teddy Roland as the General Manager of Citrus Waskaduwa.
Roland brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge gained from many years in the tourism industry. His unique perspective comes from his exposure to multiple functions of hotels, at all levels. Roland started his hotel career in 1998 at the Lanka Oberoi. Over the past fifteen years, he has held numerous senior positions at iconic properties such as Hilton Colombo, Jaic Hilton, Chayaa Hotels & Resorts and Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts.
He was the former General Manager of Chaya Wild and Hotel Manager of Centara Passikudah Resort and Spa.
During his career, Roland has been involved in some of the most innovative and challenging projects in the local tourism industry. He specialises in re branding, pre-opening, project management and was at the helm of the refurbishment and re-opening of Habarana Lodge; Chaaya Wild and Centara Passikudah this year. He was also a part of the core team that developed and transformed The Colombo Plaza into Cinnamon Grand, Colombo, The Village, Habarana into Chaaya Village Habarana and Yala Village to Chaaya Wild, Yala. Under his direction and guidance, several hotels bagged star classifications, ISO certification, Green Globe certification, Travel Life accreditation, Trip Advisor excellence, and other local and international travel and tourism awards.
