30% repeat guests
The only art incorporated hotel in Colombo, Colombo Courtyard enjoys an 85% occupancy rate on average, with the majority of the guests coming from UK, Scandinavian nations and India.
Having transformed an ordinary office block into the magical property it is today, the boutique hotel has progressed well within its one-and-a-half years of operations, CEO Nishan Moonesinghe and Managing Director Arun Thapar said.
Speaking to the Daily FT, the duo noted that the main aim is to offer something different to the local hotel market, augmenting the level of services and products within the local trade while boosting the image of Sri Lanka as a tourist destination.
Having introduced the likes of electronic scanners and unique check-in experiences, the hotel is moving from strength to strength, attracting the best of interest from the international as well as domestic tourist market.
“We are doing really well,” Thapar said. “Our investments are paying off and we are pleased with the direction in which the hotel is headed.”
He noted that during the last six months, the hotel has registered high occupancy, while Moonesinghe noted that on average the occupancy is at 85%. 305 of the guests are repeat clients.
“We offer much more than just accommodation. Our Italian restaurant Scarlet Room offers exquisitely prepared Italian food while the Loft Lounge Bar, a modern industrial style setup, Cloud Café, an open air roof top café, and Grape Expectations, the wine lounge, are all designed to create the best leisure experience for the guests as well as for locals,” Thapar acknowledged, adding that no other boutique hotel in Colombo offers as many products.
