Introducing a brand new dining concept to the country, Colombo Supper Club will feature celebrity chefs and their pop-up restaurants at Semondu – Dutch Hospital. It aims to push boundaries of the dining experience offered and put Sri Lanka on the map of entertaining and creative gastronomy.
Following its first supper club that featured Chef Rishi Naleendra from Cheek by Jowl restaurant, Singapore which was a massive success, where the chef received a standing ovation by the guests at the dinner; the Colombo Supper Club recently (17) featured Chef Andrew Walsh for a for one night pop-up.
Chef Walsh spent many years in acclaimed Michelin star kitchens across Dublin, Singapore and New York under the mentorship of Richard Corrigan, Tom Aitkens and Jason Atherton. Walsh spearheaded one of Singapore’s hottest restaurants, ‘Cure’ which is inspired by the season’s best produce.
Sharing the concept behind this novel venture Colombo Supper Club Founder Naserah Tyebally said that her aim is to fly down celebrity chefs from Singapore and other parts of Asia to do pop-up of their restaurants in Colombo.
Tyebally is a Singaporean and passionate foodie eager to change the face and concept of dining out in Sri Lanka. “It is a trend I have observed in most food capitals of the world and my aim is to bring it to Sri Lanka. The aim is to uplift the culinary landscape of Sri Lanka and showcase what is trending in the modern world of gastronomy. Hopefully it appears to foodies in Colombo,” she added.
Her expectation is to feature a new chef and showcase their restaurants for a night or two and the diners of Colombo and Sri Lanka to have an opportunity to experience their restaurant’s signature dishes.
“Ideally I wish to fly down a new chef every four to six weeks and on popular demand to repeat Chefs,” Tyebally stressed.
For her diners, she personally curates innovative wining and dining concepts and invites internationally reputed celebrity chefs with bold and interesting repertoire and presents them to discerning diners.
