Sri Lankan Convention Bureau (SLCB) presented its ability to assist the local medical bodies to bring in conferences into Sri Lanka, thus making a contribution to up-market tourism yielding high value. The presentation was made at the 126th anniversary of Scientific Medical Congress of the Sri Lanka Medical Association which was also attended by overseas participants.
Medical conferences are the highest number of meetings taking place over the world followed by science, transport, IT, economics and others.
SLCB General Manager Vipula Wanigasekera in his presentation explained to the audience the advantage of brining such medical conferences into Sri Lanka, as well as how the Bureau can assist them from the bidding process to organising, implementing and value additions.
SLMA President Dr. B.J.C. Perera in his introduction appealed to all sub associations under the Medical Association to work with SLCB and bid for as many as conferences for which the country will benefit with high-end visitors not only in terms of value but also in image building as such doctors are naturally opinion makers on the places they visit.
