The Kingsbury announced in a disclosure to the Colombo Stock Exchange and the Securities and Exchange Commission the appointment of Denesh Silva to its Board of Directors.
The appointment is viewed as a strategic move that is aligned with The Kingsbury’s overall corporate strategy for the medium term.
The Kingsbury, launched in December 2012, falls under the leisure sector of one of Sri Lanka’s foremost conglomerates Hayleys Holdings. Since its launch, The Kingsbury has pushed the boundaries of hospitality in Sri Lanka, positioning itself boldly alongside top global brands.
Its hospitality offer has been hailed by both industry experts and everyday customers as trendsetting and unique.
In looking to the future, the company moves with concerted focus towards achieving its long-term objective to be a global hospitality player.
In view of this, The Kingsbury has put into action a series of strategic initiatives to create a firm foundation for future growth. The company attributes the appointment of travel and hospitality expert Denesh Silva to the Board as core in realising these strategic interests.
Silva is a Fellow Graduate Member from the Ceylon Hotel School and School of Tourism (FCHSGA) in Hotel and Catering Operations with a specification in Front Office Operations. He was awarded the Management Diploma in Hotel and Catering Operations with a Second Class Upper Division and is a Member of the Institute of Hospitality (UK).
He is also a Director of Amaya Leisure PLC, The Fortress Resorts PLC, Maalu Maalu Resorts and Spa, Hunas Falls Hotels PLC, Delair Travels Ltd., and counts over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, specialising in marketing and sales.
He heads the marketing and sales function of Amaya Resorts & Spas and with his appointment to The Kingsbury, will play the same role for the hotel.
Silva currently functions as the Head of the Marketing Sub-Committee of The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka and is the Vice President-Hotels of the Travel Trade Sports Club and is a Committee Member of the Pacific Asia Travel Association Sri Lanka Chapter. He is additionally an All- Island Justice of the Peace.
