The Earl’s Court Group, which owns the prestigious Earl’s Regency Hotel in Kandy, recently announced the opening of the brand-new Earl’s Regent Hotel, an exclusive 50-room luxury hotel that will set a new benchmark for luxury accommodation in Kandy. Commenting on the newest addition to the Group’s ‘royal family of hotels’, Group Head of Sales and Business Development Subanu Perera described the Earl’s Regent as ‘An oasis of calm in the bustling heart of Kandy’. With 12 suites and 38 deluxe rooms, the Earl’s Regent is aimed at local and foreign travellers who insist on staying in a hotel fit for royalty, just steps away from many of Kandy’s most glittering attractions. The hotel’s 12 elegantly-appointed suites include their own living and dining areas, providing the utmost in privacy and comfort, while each of the 38 deluxe rooms offers enchanting views of the verdant gardens or the shimmering river that lies beyond. Guests will enjoy a breathtaking panorama from their balcony, including a view of the misty mountain ranges.     Luxury Each of the rooms offers a luxurious array of amenities, including satellite television, air-conditioning, and a mini-bar, amongst others. The hotel’s unique design is centred on ancient Kandyan architecture, a theme that is reflected in its rooms. For example, superior rooms boast exquisite wooden lattice-work and mosaic motifs, linking to an earlier era of royalty. It’s no surprise then, that the Earl’s Regent is the perfect setting for a royal wedding. The hotel’s ballroom and banquet hall can accommodate up to 350 guests and is situated on the top floor, providing expansive views and a truly elegant experience. The Hall is also well-suited for conferences, forums, meetings, and brainstorming sessions.     Culinary choice Guests at the Earl’s Regent are spoiled for culinary choice, with two restaurants offering a wide selection of mouth-watering fare. The main restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets, with the spotlight on a smorgasbord of international culinary classics, as well as fusion flavours that are sure to astound. Fire, the hotel’s a la carte restaurant, serves up a selection of contemporary culinary hits. Featuring an open show kitchen, Fire has a wood-fired stone deck oven, a parilla char grill and a teppanyaki grill, and an eclectic menu featuring delicious steaks, burgers, seafood, pizzas, flat breads and desserts. The hotel also has a bar and lounge, where guests can unwind over a selection of fine local and international beverages and spirits. Noting that the ‘newborn’ Earl’s Regent Hotel was already enjoying brisk bookings for the winter season, even prior to its official opening, Perera stated, “The Hotel’s rate and operational policies are very simple and straightforward,” an approach commended by global tourism operators.  He also drew attention to the fact that the hotel was staffed with an expert team of hoteliers, including Upul Gederakumbura, General Manager of the hotel. The Earl’s Regent opened its doors for a soft launch on 5 November 2013. “Our staff will be happy to take direct bookings on +94 81 222 11 44,” Perera continued.
