Emirates resumes full schedule of 34 flights a week from Colombo

Emirates has announced the resumption of its daily flights from Colombo to Singapore, following the completion of a comprehensive runway upgrade project at Dubai International Airport which resulted in a temporary suspension of these flights. Effective Tuesday 22 July, the resumption of the Colombo – Singapore service will see a return to the previous schedule of 34 Emirates flights a week from Colombo – 27 flights from Colombo to Dubai and seven onwards to Singapore. The 80-day runway upgrade in Dubai has added much-needed capacity to the airport and enhanced the infrastructure to offer a better experience for travellers. “Emirates is one of the best choices for people travelling from Colombo to Australia, with our daily flights to Singapore connecting particularly well with Emirates flights to Melbourne, where many expatriate Sri Lankans live,” said Chandana de Silva, Emirates Area Manager Sri Lanka & Maldives. “Our regular customers will be pleased to see the full Emirates schedule operating once again. With three flights a day from Colombo to Dubai on Wednesdays and four flights a day on all other days of the week, Emirates is one of the most convenient options to connect to destinations in USA, Europe, Africa and the Middle East via Dubai,” he added. From Colombo, Emirates flight EK348 departs for Singapore at 15:05hrs all days of the week except Wednesdays, and arrives in Singapore at 21:35hrs, all times local. The corresponding Emirates flight to Melbourne EK404 departs Singapore at 22:40hrs. On Wednesdays, EK348 departs Colombo at 14:10hrs and arrives in Singapore at 20:40hrs. Passengers travelling on Economy Class and Business Class to Singapore can enjoy special fares starting from Rs. 33,665 and Rs. 103,965 respectively, including taxes and surcharges.  The special fares are valid until 20 August 2014 for travel between now and 25 August. Passengers will also benefit from a generous baggage allowance of 30kg in Economy Class, 40kg in Business Class and 50kg in First Class. They will also discover gourmet-chef prepared multi-course meals, dedicated children’s menus and activities, along with ice, Emirates’ award winning entertainment system, offering up to 1,800 channels of on-demand entertainment.
