Etihad Airways was ranked number two in the ‘Top Airlines Global’ category in the 23rd annual Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Travel Awards.

The announcement was made in New York City last week, following the results of the annual survey of over 25,000 Condé Nast Traveller readers worldwide.

Etihad was recognised for its outstanding achievements as an airline, receiving the award second to Singapore Airlines and ahead of its Middle Eastern competition.

“We are delighted to be recognised by global travellers in this way. Receiving this accolade confirms that our direction and strategy is the right one for us and for our customers, and will push us further along our path of providing comfort and innovation to all our passengers,” said Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways’ chief commercial officer.

The awards annually rank the best cities, islands, cruise lines, airlines, hotels, resorts and car rental agencies around the globe.

Etihad offers free visas to Indian travellers

Etihad Airways on Wednesday said it would be offering free visas to people travelling from Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode airports to Abu Dhabi.

This was part of a special promotion of the airline’s visa processing service launched with TT Services in May this year, according to a report in The Economic Times.

The offer is also valid to the travellers from other Indian destinations of Etihad, the airlines said in a press release here.

Indians travelling on Etihad Airways to Abu Dhabi can take advantage of the offer by booking a flight to the UAE between 15 October and 15 November, for travel between 20 October and 15 December. The two types of visas offered free of charge are Tourist visa for 30 days and Entry Permit for 14 days.
