“This resort was created according to the concept of infinity and I have tried to create a never ending experience architecturally by making the simple things interesting. I have allowed the natural beauty of the environment shine through, and a good example of this is the unobstructed ocean view available to guests from their beds,” said Architect Vinod Jayasinghe of the resort looking at his breath taking masterpiece; Anantaya, Chilaw.   Situated 66 kilometres north of the Bandaranaike International Airport on the uncongested A3 Highway, Anantaya Chilaw is the first luxury beach resort in the Chilaw/Puttlam area in the north of Negombo and lies on a narrow peninsula between the Indian Ocean and the Chilaw lagoon. Anantaya, or infinity, is a fitting name for the resort and was chosen due to the infinite comfort, beauty and tranquillity offered by it to its guests. The first hint of the infinite tranquillity of Anantaya Chilaw‎ can be experienced on the vast, sandy beach of the resort which fills one with a feeling of blissful isolation that only the ocean can provide. Having no other hotels in the vicinity, the beach sees virtually no people apart from the guests of the hotel, ensuring a quietness which is elusive on popular beaches around the island. Anantaya Chilaw is perfectly located to capture the beauty of its picturesque surroundings, with the rooms carefully designed to provide guests a breathtaking view of the Indian Ocean at sunrise upon awaking from a deep, peaceful sleep. The architect of the resort, Vinod Jayasinghe of Vinod Jayasinghe Associates Ltd., is a student of the legendary Geoffrey Bawa. Jayasinghe firmly believes in “Simplicity being the greatest of Sophistication” a quote made by The Great Leonardo Da Vinci. Hardly does an artist reach ultimate satisfaction with a piece of art finalised by one’s hands but always long to create a finer piece which he may claim his masterpiece. Quite the contrary, Jayasinghe feels otherwise with his wonderful creation at hand this time. “I feel I have done justice to my intuitive ability with this creation. I was able to bring to reality the impossibly magnificent imagination that occurred in me at the first moment I saw this piece of amazing landscape,” he explained. Vinod sounds content as an artist while he looks on at the sunset that colours the infinite view in red; truly a view out-of-this-world. Adding to this view is the two masterfully constructed swimming pools, the remarkable length and depth of which provide guests with an unrestrained and unparalleled swimming experience. The sight of the pools appearing to seamlessly merge in to the vast ocean provide the visual delight of a single body of deep blue water that stretches infinitely against the backdrop of a yellow horizon punctuated by the setting sun. Beside the resort is a river which along with the surrounding mangroves creates a forest-like environment. Situated en route to the cultural triangle, Anantaya Chilaw is a mere 4 kilometres away from one of Sri Lanka’s Ramsar Wetland sites. In order to provide guests a more wholesome experience, the resort also arranges excursions to Wilpattu, the largest National Park in Sri Lanka, Kalpitiya, one of the best sites in the world for whale watching and many other attractive locations. Ananthaya Chilaw is the first hotel launched by Laugfs Leisure Ltd. (LLL), the leisure sector arm of Laugfs Holdings Ltd. LLL has entered the leisure field aggressively and is currently developing two other properties in Pasikudah and Waskaduwa with the former expected to welcome guests from early 2015. In the meantime, LLL is pursuing the development of other leisure based activities with the Directors of LLL, Chairman W.K.H. Wegapitiya, Managing Director Thilak de Silva, H.A. Ariyaratne and Srilal Miththapala who intent on establishing the company as the premier name in the leisure industry.
