Flamingo Tours, which offers domestic tours across Sri Lanka, recently celebrated its third anniversary. The company was founded by tour leader Padmini Hussein to provide affordable and comprehensive tours that reveal the cultural heritage and natural beauty of the island. Flamingo Tours has proved quite popular among local travellers and expatriates. Padmini attributes this to the highly-personalised service and all-inclusive packages she provides. Her packages cover everything from transport and accommodation to all meals, snacks and refreshments. She says: “I always insist on taking small groups of 14-16 people. There is much camaraderie as the tour progresses, and by the end of it they are like one big family!” Over the past three years, the company has built up an appreciative clientele consisting mainly of ladies. Among them are many senior citizens including retirees and expatriates. “Those who join the tours are usually so satisfied that they recommend me to their circle of friends,” says Padmini. The trips organised by Flamingo Tours cover the important places of interest in Sri Lanka. These include archaeological, historical, cultural, religious, natural and recreational sites from Point Pedro in the north to Dondra Head in the south. The travellers get to see so much that they return with a sense of fulfilment and value-for-money.
