Fortress Resort and Spa enhances customer service with 3M Passport Reader

Award-winning luxury resort and spa The Fortress recently streamlined its front office operations by utilising leading innovations-focused company 3M Sri Lanka’s Passport Reader in a bid to enhance customer service and provide an efficient solution to the resorts document data capture needs.



The 3M Passport Reader is specifically designed for the hospitality and related industries, and enables hoteliers to scan multiple document types with speed and accuracy and provides flexibility in systems integration, easy operation and maintenance. Once a document is scanned in the reader, the system can populate selected fields on the guest profile of the Property Management System (PMS).

The required information is automatically extracted and used to fill in registration information. In less than three seconds, the hotel can accurately capture this information, speeding the guest check-in process and helping to prevent long queues. This information can also be utilised to check against key customer lists, corporate accounts, or law enforcement watch lists. Reports can quickly be generated, complete with full-colour images of guests’ travel documents.
