Gigantic victory for Galadari Hotel’s young Maduka

Young Maduka Priyadarshani stole the limelight and did the Galadari Hotel proud at the All-Island Finals of the 22nd National Bartenders Cocktail and Flaring Competition 2013 by securing 1st Place in the ‘Classical’ category. It was indeed a night of cheers and tears as this young girl from Belihuloya, showed them how with her innovative cocktail which she created and named the ‘Pink Panther’. Maduka who is overwhelmed with joy will be proudly representing Sri Lanka at the 22nd Asia Pacific Bartender of the Year Cocktail Competition 2013 to be held in Singapore. To further add to her glory she also secured a special award for the ‘Best Tasting Cocktail’ which will see her travelling again to Malaysia. The 22nd National Bartenders Cocktail and Flaring Competition 2013, organised by the Ceylon Hotel School Graduates Association, held the All Island Finals on 24 July 2013. The competition which was held in six regions throughout the island saw 14 of the best finalists showcasing talent at the ‘Classical’ category in which Maduka triumphed. Commenting on Maduka’s victory, Galadari Hotel Food and Beverage Trainer Clive De Costa said: “Maduka is very talented and a perfectionist at heart. Also she is humble and willing to learn, which I feel is the ideal recipe for success. I wish her all the best in her upcoming competition in Singapore.” Speaking on her triumph Maduka said: “I really hope I can bring back international recognition to Sri Lanka. Whilst thanking the staff and management of Galadari Hotel for all their support, I would like to send out to my heartfelt thanks to Clive De Silva my trainer, Restaurants Manager Harsha Guruge, Assistant Manager Food and Beverage - Bars Sumedha Devapriya and Manager Training and Development Gayani Wasalathanthri who went to unbelievable lengths to make my dream victory a reality.
