Grand Monarch Hotel opens in Thalawathugoda

Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa last week opened the Grand Monarch Hotel in Thalawathugoda. The hotel, located just five minutes away from Parliament and Sethsiripaya, has many facilities. It will create a number of employment opportunities for the youth in the area, as well as self employment prospects and micro enterprises.



The Government is in the process of encouraging the private sector to cater to the emerging tourist market with dawn of peace in the country, and private sector has come forward to tap into the booming tourism potential in the country.

Sri Lanka has been enjoying a surge in tourism in recent years and these types of hotels will help meet the demands of a large segment of mid-range local and foreign travellers. Pix by Chaminda Hittatiya
