Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has added more flights and additional seat capacity to its flights between Colombo and Bahrain for the summer season.

Effective 17 May, flights between Colombo and Bahrain will increase from seven to eight per week with a 14% added seat capacity to meet the increasing demand during this summer season. The airline will be operating a new Airbus A320 aircraft on this route.

Gulf Air Area Commercial Manager Indian subcontinent & Far East, Yaqoob Abdulla Yaqoob said, “In less than a year since we launched our Colombo service, it has proved to be a popular destination witnessing already 80% load and come summer, the demand will be even higher. So we have made sure to meet the summer rush by increasing frequencies and seat capacity.”

Added Gulf Air Commercial Manager India & Sri Lanka Ranju Selvadurai, “As the carrier providing seamless and convenient onward connections from European and offline North American destinations to the Middle East and Asia Pacific destinations, Gulf Air offers excellent connections to Colombo via its Bahrain hub. Passengers from Bahrain and from these countries, travelling to Sri Lanka to either visit family, friends and relatives or spend their summer vacation on its fabulous beach resorts, will find Gulf Air the best choice.”

In its summer schedule released last week, the airline highlighted that over 1700 seats have been added per week across its entire network to meet the increasing passenger demand.

In addition, during this summer, Gulf Air will be launching services to three new destinations- Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan from 15 June, Copenhagen — its first service to Scandinavia — from 1 July and Nairobi, the Capital of Kenya from 5 July.
