Gulf Air, the Kingdom of Bahrain’s national carrier, announced the expansion of its existing codeshare partnership with Cyprus Airways.

Under the new codeshare agreement, Gulf Air passengers will have better and faster connections to travel to Athens and Thessaloniki, Greece’s popular holiday and tourist destinations via Larnaca on Cyprus Airways.

Similarly, travelers from these two cities will be able to connect to more than 48 destinations via Larnaca. Customers can book tickets to these destinations on both airlines’ websites, sales offices and worldwide contact centres.

Gulf Air Chief Commercial Officer Karim Makhlouf said, “Gulf Air’s relationship with Cyprus Airways is longstanding – since 1994 – when we signed our codeshare partnership. Until today, Larnaca remains a strategic route and key market for us connecting Cyprus with Bahrain, the Middle East, Africa and Asia.”

“I am delighted to see this relationship being strengthened with the expansion of our codeshare agreement, providing seamless travel to our passengers to travel to Athens and Thessaloniki in Greece, where Cyprus Airways has a very strong presence. This is one more step towards offering our customers simpler travel arrangements and easy connections in association with our codeshare partners.”

Cyprus Airways flies to over 20 destinations in Europe and the Middle East. In addition, it serves several other destinations in cooperation with its codeshare partners.  “We are pleased that the enhancement of the long standing codeshare arrangement between Gulf Air and Cyprus Airways will give the opportunity to Cyprus Airways to reciprocate with having Gulf Air as a partner on the Cyprus Airways flights from Larnaca to Athens and Thessaloniki.

Both routes are core to the CY network and the partnership with Gulf Air will definitely contribute to their growth and will greatly enhance Cyprus Airways’ presence and prospects on the routes between Cyprus and Greece,” commented Christos Agapiou, Commercial Manager of Cyprus Airways.

Gulf Air operates six weekly flights from Bahrain to Larnaca and flies to 48 cities in 30 countries directly.
