Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau in collaboration with Air India organised a Trade Familiarisation Tour from India to Sri Lanka for 20 travel agents from 3 to 9 July in order to promote Sri Lanka to Indian travellers. Apart from the familiarisation tour, the group met Minister of Tourism Development and Christian Religious Affairs John Amaratunga and also had a one to one B2B session with tourism industry holders of Sri Lanka. At the Banquet hall of Ramada Hotel – Colombo, more than 80 members from SLAITO, THASL and ASMET participated in the B2B session.
“India continues to be a booming market for Sri Lanka and we will continue our marketing efforts in this market,” said Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Chairman P.M. Withana. In the six months to June Indian tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka was at 172,841 which was an 18.8% increase over the same period last year.
