Information about religious sites of historical and archaeological importance is being added to the internet. This is being carried out under the e-Society Programme of the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA).
As a step in this endeavour, information about the Tantirimale Rajamaha temple and archaeologically valuable information about Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa have been put on the internet.
While photographs relevant to each have been included, while on the site one feels like one has visited the locations themselves, because the photographs available for view on the internet have been taken from various angles.
You could have this experience of the Tantirimale Rajamaha temple on www.tantrimale.net and for similar enjoyment of the archaeological aspects of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa. The relevant website is www.ancientruins.lk.
These websites are available both in the English and Sinhala. ICTA Chief Executive Officer Reshan Dewapura said that it was important that it had been possible to have information about places of historical importance in Sri Lanka thus entered on the internet. Efforts will be made to extend this endeavour to other sites of historical and archaeological importance.
