Jet Asia Airways has today signed a two-year distribution agreement with Abacus International to build a share of bookings in the B2B channel across Asia Pacific.
The move will support the Thai carrier’s expansion, with more scheduled services strengthening its network and complementing the current full service charter flights.
Abacus is the first Global Distribution System to carry Jet Asia Airways content, giving travel agent users of the company’s innovative technology unique access to all the airline’s existing and planned services, fares and ancillary products. The contract covers 29 key feeder markets generating bookings for the carrier.
Speaking from a private signing at the Abacus Airline Conference in Bali, Jet Asia Chief Commercial Officer John Chapman was ‘delighted to have reached an agreement of this scale and to have selected Abacus as Jet Asia’s first distribution partner’. He added, “With travel agents at tens of thousands of locations able to compare and book Jet Asia, Abacus is the pillar of our B2B strategy, giving us the platform to compete for more market share.”
The airline brand is undergoing a transformation with new scheduled services connecting popular Bangkok Suvarnabhumi and Phuket to Indonesian and Saudi Arabian destinations, extending a route network that already spans China, Korea and Japan.
Jet Asia is doubling its fleet this year to provide the capacity, while investing in new channels of distribution to stimulate and manage increased demand.
Abacus VP Airline Distribution Ho Hoong Mau said, “Abacus channels huge volumes of traffic for carriers serving the Thai and North Asian destinations, so we are confident we can help Jet Asia realise its ambitions.
Our users will welcome the exclusivity of this distribution agreement and actively promote the competitive Jet Asia fares.”
