In 1973, the destiny of Sri Lankan tourism changed. From humble beginnings in the fishing town of Negombo, a small family owned company grew to be a pioneering force in the industry, and is now renowned the world over for its simple values and its promise of traditional Sri Lankan hospitality.

In third place comes Haridra Resort and Spa by Jetwing, located in the cosy environs of Wadduwa. This 32 suite resort features a spa dedicated to the ancient healing art of Ayurveda, and is the perfect destination for a family vacation. Jetwing Lighthouse, Bawa’s finest creation for the hospitality industry, and a member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, is placed fifth; Jetwing Lagoon, Sri Lanka’s first resort and master Geoffrey Bawa’s first resort design comes in at eighth place. Last, not least is Jetwing Beach, another member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World which is listed in the number 12 slot.
It doesn’t stop there, however. Jetwing Vil Uyana, voted amongst the World’s Best Ecolodges by National Geographic Traveler is listed under Top 25 Small Hotels in Sri Lanka (No. 12), Top 25 Luxury Hotels in Sri Lanka (No. 9), and quite appropriately, Top 25 Hotels for Romance (No. 11). Jetwing Lighthouse joins the eco-resort under the Top 25 Luxury Hotels list, coming in at No. 12 along with Jetwing Blue at No. 24; and is also listed under Top 25 Hotels for Romance at No. 16.
