  • Spectacular glass cabin atop tree
From the creators of KumbukRiver, one of the world’s most captivating getaways, now comes yet another attraction promising to keep up with its penchant for stunning artistry. Romanticised as ‘heaven on trees’, KumbukRiver’s new attraction is a spectacular tree cabin laced with trappings of luxury inviting visitors to an experience of a lifetime. The new architectural masterpiece defies gravity with a two-deck luxurious abode with the lower deck emulating a 5-star hotel room adorned with a glass wall on the river-side offering spellbinding vistas. The latest attraction at Sri Lanka’s most-acclaimed getaway has never-before-seen features for visitors who want their eco experience amidst comfort and impresario. The elegantly designed Cabin is air-conditioned and includes probably the largest bed in a Sri Lankan hotel, refrigerator, television, a hot water shower with water jets and FM radio, all up the tree. But it’s most enchanting highlight remains its glass front up the trees. The family-sized Tree Luxuria is expected to be a honeymooner’s paradise further boosting an accolade KumbukRiver was accorded as one of the world’s best destinations for adventurous honeymooners. KumbukRiver shot to fame winning tourism world’s ultimate recognition, a travel Oscar as the world’s leading eco-lodge in 2008 on the back of its centre-piece, a two-storey 40ft high eco villa in the shape of an elephant. Set in an idyllic nature enclave on the banks of a lively river in a sleepy hamlet in Buttala and on the edge of Yala National Park, the 16-acre nature resort continues to be in the focus of international media. The Times-Online listed it among the world’s best green places and it is in a select list of world’s top 10 most unusual hotels. KumbukRiver now has three accommodation types from a rustic farm house to a most unusual Elephant Villa to luxury on trees. The Tree Luxuria is again a sheer surprise in terms of design, class and logic. From newlyweds on their honeymoon to families looking for a unique experience, the tree cabin will wow people who love nature but don’t want to leave luxurious comforts behind. KumbukRiver was conceptualised by Dinesh Watawana, the maverick idea man whose company handles several blue-chip accounts. The resort is part of the CSR mandate of his integrated communications agency The 7th Frontier.
