Singapore Airlines (SIA) together with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) hosted key staff members of five leading Travel Agencies to a four-day familiarisation trip to Singapore recently. On their journey to and from Singapore, the Agents were treated to the world renowned unparalleled levels of service on-board SIA’s Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The trade partners had the opportunity of obtaining a firsthand experience of the latest developments in Singapore, which included the Singapore Flyer, Gardens By the Bay, River Safari & Resorts World Sentosa. They also had the privilege of experiencing the latest addition to Universal Studio Singapore “Transformers the Ride: The ultimate 3D battle.” The Maritime Experiential Museum and the Marine Life Park were of exceptional interest to the group with this attraction boasting the largest oceanarium in the world. The group witnessed firsthand, the thrills and spills of wet and wild fun of the Adventure Cove Water Park. Later they were hosted to drinks and dinner at The Beer Market, Clarke Quay. Inspired by the dynamics of the stock exchange, Beer Market is the perfect blend of food, music and sports and where drink prices move according to demand, creating an exciting atmosphere and interactive experience. With the assistance of STB’s Regional Office, headed by Sheryl Soh, Manager, West and South India and Sri Lanka, the trade partners had the opportunity of meeting and interacting with key individuals and decision makers of the hotels and attractions they visited, thereby establishing stronger ties for mutually beneficial commercial activities. Prior to returning to Colombo, the participants indulged in shopping along Orchard Road, renowned as a shopper’s haven and cosmopolitan playground set among a lush tropical landscape that is ubiquitous in this Garden City whilst enjoying the iconic Singapore Chili Crab and signature Black Pepper Crab at Jumbo Seafood, Dempsey Hill. “Singapore is an ever changing city and we were exposed to many new and unique attractions during this FAM Trip. The tour gave us the opportunity to experience the ‘Essence of Singapore’. These experiences will most definitely enable us to promote Singapore more effectively. Thank you Singapore Airlines and The Singapore Tourism Board for the opportunity and for a well-organised tour,” said Chanies Ratnayake, Senior Manager, Marketing, Classic Travels.
