Kottayam: Malaysian Airlines, a major airliner, is set to cease its service to Kochi from June 2 following a drop in the revenue from its service to Kochi. The booking office of the airlines in Kochi reportedly received the message from its head office to block ticket booking for dates beginning from June. Travel agencies too informed about the closure of ticket bookings of the airlines for its service to Kochi. The passengers who made advance bookings for dates beyond June 2 will get their tickets transferred to the other nearest airport where the airlines is operational. “Malaysian Airlines confirms undertaking a network suspension exercise to reduce flying to certain routes as part of normal and on-going network review process. We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers as a result of these changes and assure that customers holding tickets to and from the affected routes will be eligible for a refund or re-accommodated on alternative flights. The route rationalization exercise for Kochi takes effect on 1 June 2015,” the company responded in a statement.
