The Indian Ocean luxury destination Maldives have made to the ‘Top Ten Hot Destinations for 2011’ by Thomson and First Choice.

Thomson Holidays is a UK based travel operator and part of TUI Travel plc, while First Choice is the trading name of TUI UK Limited, part of the TUI Travel plc Group of companies - the UK’s leading leisure travel company.

In the ‘top ten’ list, Maldives was placed 7th, followed by Majorca, Turkey and Rhodes and preceded by Tenerife, Mexico, Cuba, Porto Santo, Djerba in Tunisia, and Egypt coming first.

“As Britain gets to grips with the big freeze, our thoughts turn to sunnier climes and where we can go in search of some much needed sunshine,” the group said.

“No longer is the Maldives an exclusive destination for the rich and famous. Both Thomson and First Choice offer a great variety of holidays to this tropical haven and it’s now better value than ever before,” said Thomson, adding that Maldives is a “true tropical paradise that offers a taste of affordable luxury, especially in 2011 with the launch of our first 24-hour all-inclusive island.”

For 2011, Thomson has introduced the very first 24/7 all inclusive resort - the newly refurbished Vilamendhoo Island Resort and Spa. This means guests can rest assured that the cost of their holiday is paid upfront, and can relax knowing that everything is included. On this island, you’ll find three bars and four restaurants, plus an amazing house reef for snorkelling. Thomson also offers flexible durations on holidays to the Maldives, with 10 and 11 night options for those looking for something different.

Thomson offers 11 night holidays in Maldives at the Vilamendhoo Island Resort on a 24 hour all inclusive basis from £1,699 per person based on two sharing. Departing on 13 March 2011 from London Gatwick, the price includes return flights, accommodation, transfers and all taxes and charges.
