Five journalists from the leading internet portals of Russia and CIS markets were recently in Maldives on a familiarisation trip. Organised by Maldives Marketing & PR Corporation jointly with industry partners, this media familiarisation trip enabled the journalists to explore Maldives and experience different elements of the destination until their departure.
The media familiarisation included journalists from Travel Russian News, Trip-point.ru, Sobesednik, Tourbusiness, and a well-known blogger, Krivov Dmitrii. Maldives PR Representative for Russia and CIS Markets Daria Chernyak from Prime Developments also accompanied them on the tour.
During the 11-day familiarisation trip, the journalists discovered the beauty of the beaches, lavish living in the resorts, and colourful marine life, as well as experienced the local daily life – all this to cover in their stories.
The journalists were hosted by Atmosphere Kanifushi, Meeru Island Resort & Spa, and Lux Maldives. The familiarisation trip helped to increase exposure in the Russian market, highlighting Maldives’ unique beauty and serenity.
Maldives registered a total of 66,308 tourists from Russia in 2014. By the end of February of this year, 8,672 tourists from Russia have already visited the Maldives.
