Maldives Hotel Asia 2016 winners to participate at HOFEX 2017

The Maldives Hotel Asia International Culinary Challenge is the region’s premier culinary competition with the participation of over 500 chefs. The event provides an excellent opportunity for industry professionals to showcase their culinary talents and services to the public, in addition to gaining experience and promoting communication within the regional culinary community. 

The winners of the Maldives Hotel Asia International Culinary Challenge 2016, Chef Ahmed Fatheen from Bandos Island Resort, Chef Indra Kumar Limbu and Chef Ismail Nasser from Hulhule Island Hotel will participate at the HOFEX 2017 in Hong Kong. This event will be jointly hosted by Maldives Exhibition and Conference Service (MECS) and Bestbuy Maldives (BBM) the Main Sponsor of Hotel Asia International Culinary Challenge.

Project Director Alan Palmer said, “As the organisers of Maldives Hotel Asia International Culinary Challenge we are happy and proud to support the three chefs’ participation at HOFEX 2017. Our goal is to develop chefs working in the Maldives by participating in such prestigious events which will provide them the huge opportunity to improve their skills and also the chance to meet other culinarians from the world over.” 

HOFEX is Asia’s Leading Food and Hospitality Tradeshow (biennial) and scheduled to be held from 8-11 May at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong. It has been taking the industry on numerous extraordinary journeys of culinary delicacies from all over the world in the past 30 years, bringing the most comprehensive selection of food and drinks, hospitality equipment and supplies products to Asia.

HOFEX is organised by the Hong Kong Exhibition Services Ltd. and co-organised by Allworld Exhibitions, The Hong Kong Chefs Association and International Culinary Institute – ICI (Member of VTC Group). The event is endorsed by World Association of Chefs Societies. Hong Kong Chinese Chefs Association and Hong Kong Bakery and Confectionery Association Limited are the supporting associations for the event. 

The objective of the competition is to provide channels promoting culinary excellence, the skills and abilities of chefs, cooks, pastry chefs and apprentices from near and far.
