Maldivian Chief of Defence makes The Kingsbury his home away from home in Sri Lanka

For The Kingsbury, Colombo, it was an honour and a privilege to have the Maldivian Chief of Defence, Major General Ahmed Shiyam, as a guest during his official visit to Sri Lanka. Major General Shiyam stated that The Kingsbury was one of the best hotels he had ever stayed at and the level of service was far beyond his expectations. He also added that the rooms were very comfortable and the food was simple delicious. Major General Shiyam called on President Mahinda Rajapaksa and held discussions on how to further strengthen bilateral relations and mutual cooperation between the two countries. He commended both the President and Sri Lanka’s armed forces for defeating terrorism. The Deputy High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka Dr. Ahmed Niyaaz and Defence Advisor of the Maldivian High Commission Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Mukthar accompanied Major General Shiyam. Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs Karunatilaka Amunugama and Director of Naval Operations Commodore N.P.S. Attygalle were also present.
