The Mermaid Hotel & Club, Kalutara received the much-acclaimed 2014 Travellers’ Choice Award for the second consecutive year.
Recognised with top international brand hotels in Maldives, Malaysia, Indonesia and India, Mermaid Hotel & Club is the only Sri Lankan Hotel to receive an award in this category. The Travellers’ Choice Awards are based on millions of genuine reviews and honest opinions from travellers on TripAdvisor. TripAdvisor is the world’s largest travel community with over 190 million reviews and opinions covering more than 4.4 million accommodations, restaurants and attractions.
Competing against large international chain hotels such as Club Med, Centara and Banyan Tree, Mermaid Hotel and Club was placed fourth on the list of Top 10 All Inclusive Hotels in Asia, moving up from No. 6.
Mermaid is also rated as the No.1 hotel in Kalutara from a field of eight hotels, with over 1000 unbiased traveller reviewers.
The Mermaid is distinctly different in every aspect to its competition and as a result the hotel’s customer satisfaction index is rated very high. The success of the hotel derives from its team of dedicated and hard working professionals who understand that customer satisfaction is of paramount importance. Since its inception in 1983, the Mermaid has always set the standard for three star resort hotels in Sri Lanka. With regular refurbishments and modern updates, the hotel has kept pace with its international peers. The hotel undergoes a detailed refurbishment every five to six years with regular soft refurbishments in between to meet the demands of today’s traveller.
The most recent soft refurbishment was carried out in 2014. A major refurbishment is commissioned for 2016 where guests’ rooms will be completely revamped with larger bedrooms and bathrooms with a completely new look and feel to increase guest comfort levels.
