Sri Lankan government is getting ready to put forward more policy decisions to help the tourism sector flourish and grow rapidly with proper guidance within the next three months, Deputy Minister of Economic Development Laxman Yapa Abeywardena said.
The Minister stated that the state will come up with a simple tax regime for development within the next three months to help the tourism industry grow in a sustainable manner. Hoping that the simple tax regime, which would bring Pradeshiya Saba and provincial council tax regimes under one roof, will help prevent adhoc development like what is seen at Hikkaduwa. Abeywardena stated that the new regime will bring forward order and speed in the development of tourism projects. The Gazette notification setting out a new simple tax regime will be issued within the next three months, he said.
