Most outstanding tour operators of UK recognised by SLTPB

The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, along with the Sri Lanka Association for Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO), conducted the selection process of Best Tour Operators in the United Kingdom, in appreciation of their excellence in performance during the year 2011.

Accordingly, the following tour operators based in the UK, who induced the largest number of tourists to Sri Lanka, were duly recognised during the period of World Travel Market (WTM) at Excel Hall, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Stand – 1st Place: Kuoni UK; 2nd Place: Mercury Direct; 3rd Place: TUI UK.

During the three days of the WTM exhibition, the leading global event of travel and tourism trade, the stakeholders of Sri Lanka Tourism came across with the great opportunity of meeting tour agencies around the globe. In fact, SLTPB officials and 53 travel trade companies from Sri Lanka, with over 500 exclusive business meetings, were successful enough to link up with their international counterparts and thereby to create an imprint of Sri Lanka Tourism in the world market.

The stall of SLTPB in WTM mainly consisted of two major events. During the first two days, a traditional wedding ceremony, enriched with custom, featured at the stall, with the purpose of promoting Sri Lanka as a renowned wedding and honeymoon destination.

On the third day of the exhibition, SLTPB focused on highlighting Sri Lanka as a cricketing destination and steps were taken to distribute Sri Lanka Cricket T-shirts and souvenirs to the visitors, besides a number of other promotional activities.
