Newly appointed General Manager for Singapore Airlines Colombo Richard Kwee is upbeat on prospects in Sri Lanka. Kwee began his career in Singapore Airlines from 2007 and has been working in operations as well as sales and marketing areas in the company’s head office in Singapore, before his last posting in Bangalore, India. Kwee stated that the travel industry is highly competitive and the past year has been another challenging one for airlines. However, Singapore Airlines has been investing heavily in the three main pillars of their brand promise: service excellence, product leadership and network connectivity. Kwee said that he is happy to be here in Sri Lanka, an island with excellent offerings for any type of visitor and where its people are warm and friendly. “Sri Lanka offers many opportunities for foreign investors and tourists. Singapore Airlines will be right here in Sri Lanka to participate in this growth and development of the market and the country,” he added. Singapore Airlines which was founded in 1972 has come a long way evolving from a regional airline to one of the most respected travel brands around the world. Singapore Airlines flies one of the youngest aircraft fleets in the world to destinations spanning a network spread over six continents, with the Singapore Girl as the internationally recognisable icon providing the high standard of care and service that customers anticipate from the airlines.
