Taj Samudra hotel ushered in the New Year in a dazzling fashion by hosting a Dinner Dance at its Samudra Ballroom on the rooftop. The Ballroom has a grand vista overlooking the ocean on all sides, and was elegantly decorated for the night’s festivities. The guests were able to enjoy an international buffet by award winning Executive Chef, Dhaithya Krawage.
The lively entertainment provided by the band ‘Chill Out’ and DJ Hasith, kept the guests celebrating well past the dawn of the New Year. The dance floor showcased the guests enjoying the revelry to the myriad of tunes played by both the DJ and band, including Baila, Bollywood, Retro, Contemporary and Dance hits.
There were opportunities for the guests to win prizes and surprises with draws that were held. What many would call a unique and spectacular performance was the four time award winning world champion mixologist and professional beverage expert, Atilla Iskifoglu’s flair performance.
Flair is a technical term for the throwing, catching and balancing moves preformed by professional bartenders. The crowd was enthralled by his feats, especially the ladies. They were relieved to discover that he would be performing daily at Yumi, the new chic Resto-bar with a Japanese accent, at Taj Samudra, Colombo and serving his signature cocktails to guests.
At Yumi, in the mean time, the guests were entertained by the talented and beautiful Ukranian DJ Angelika, who was spinning the music that kept the guests regaled. Here too guests were dancing away to the tunes that Angelika was playing which included a mix of dance and contemporary music. Atilla also spun his magic which kept the crowd entertained. You can catch both of them in action any week night or week end at Yumi.
The dawn of the New Year 2014 was rung in by a countdown, and the crowd celebrated it in style amidst falling balloons and great music, food and entertainment. The event was an elegant success, and in true Taj style, and many more exciting happenings are expected at Taj Samudra in 2014.
