Nigel Barker & family enjoy Cinnamon hospitality in Sri Lanka

While touring around Sri Lanka, Nigel Barker and his family have been completely overwhelmed by what they have experienced so far. “There’s never been a dull moment throughout our tour, and the food has been amazing! It brings back old childhood memories and I simply could not get enough of the curry!” commented Nigel. Although Nigel was born in London, his mother Gillian Barker is of Sri Lankan ancestry and was a former contestant of the Miss Sri Lanka beauty pageant. Nigel had thus visited Sri Lanka on a few occasions as a child and has many fond memories.

Nigel and his family experienced some of the best of Sri Lankan culture, history and wildlife after having climbed the Sigiriya rock, visiting Polonnaruwa, trekking in Hiriwaduna, witnessing the elephant gathering in Minneriya and experiencing some of the best cuisines. Further commenting on his experience, Nigel said, “The kids loved the Safari to Minneriya where we got up close and personal with the gentle giants. Back at our Hotel Cinnamon Lodge, we tasted 34 different flavours of homemade ice cream including chilly ice cream which was my favourite!”

The Barker family visited Cinnamon Citadel Kandy next where they witnessed more of the local traditions and food including a visit to a local Spice Garden. They then proceeded to Cinnamon Bey Beruwala to experience Sri Lanka’s pristine beaches while soaking up the sun.
