Cinnamon Grand’s unique Nuga Gama, winner of ‘The Best Host Hotel – Culture’ (Sri Lanka Tourism Award 2010) and Sri Lanka’s only village in the city, was captured through the lens of contestants vying for the esteemed achievement of getting the ‘Nat Geo Mission Cover Shot,’ in the inaugural photography-based reality show, on the National Geographic Channel. The elimination round of the competition, held in Sri Lanka, will see contestants face a variety of challenges that test their photographic skills.
Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts are hospitality partner for this landmark event, expected to generate over 450 minutes of airtime and telecasted over 10 consecutive weeks, making it the highest level of exposure Sri Lanka has received from a TV channel. The ‘Food Challenge’ saw the top three finalists battle it out to capture the most appealing photo of the Nuga Gama ‘ammes’ squatting by hearth slow cooking a rural feast, amidst the rustic hamlets, organic farms and other depictions of a rural village under the 200-year-old Banyan tree.
