PATA Sri Lanka Chapter holds AGM; Shamali re-elected as Chairperson

The 38th Annual General Meeting of the PATA Sri Lanka Chapter was held on 9 July 2013 at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Colombo.
The Sri Lanka Chapter enables its members to conduct their various assigned responsibilities for selling travel related products and providing services to visitors to the island in a more effective manner. The key aim is to promote Sri Lanka as a PATA destination, under the aegis of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.
Shamali De Vaz, Managing Director of Silver Line Tours Ltd., was re-elected as the Chairperson of the Chapter for the year 2013-2014. Ruan Samarasinghe, Managing Director of Jetwing Hotels and Hussain Jayah, Head of Marketing and Sales of Aitken Spence Hotels, were re-elected as Vice Chairmen.
The following Committee members were elected on to the Committee of the PATA Sri Lanka Chapter: Lalith Rodrigo, Director of Galle Face Hotels Ltd.; Jayantha Panabokke, Managing Director of Mahaweli Reach Hotels Ltd.; Devan De Mel, Chairman/Managing Director of Quickshaws Tours Ltd.; Zahara Cader, Managing Director of Tallman Tours Ltd.; Sega Nagendra, Director of Travel On Ltd.; Harith Perera, Managing Director of Diethelm Travel Lanka; Denesh Silva, Director – Marketing and Sales, Amaya Leisure Plc; Muaiyyed Idroos – Executive Director, World Avenues Ltd.; and Ratten Abdulhussein, Director of Pan Lanka Travels and Tours Ltd. as the Immediate Past President.
Kumudu Hennidege, Manager – Marketing and Promotions of Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, Malraj Kiriella, Director – International Affairs and Research of Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority and representatives from Civil Aviation Authority and Sri Lankan Airlines will be joining in an ex-officio capacity. Membership of the Chapter consists of 63 local members, comprising travel agents, tour operators, sightseeing operators, ground/water transportation operators and hoteliers whose businesses are situated within the geographical area of Sri Lanka.
