Qatar Airways has been recognised as one of the world’s leading airlines in the recent Condé Nast Traveller ‘Readers’ Travel Awards’ held at the Ham Yard Hotel in Central London.

The airline was awarded the coveted ‘Best For Business’ accolade with readers commending the airline’s five-star on-board service, on-time departure punctuality record and lounge facilities at both the London Heathrow Premium Lounge and the Al Mourjan Business Lounge, Doha.

The airline was also named runner-up as the readers’ choice for ‘Leisure Long-haul Travel’ at the ceremony attended by hundreds of industry leaders and travel specialists.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker said: “We are honoured to be recognised as the best airline for business travel by the readers of Condé Nast Traveller. Providing an unrivalled service, offering exceptional in-flight and on-ground lounge facilities and focusing on our passengers’ priorities are our goals – and this award is yet another testament to achieving that. Combined with our modern fleet and extensive business and leisure destinations via Hamad International Airport, Qatar Airways continues to set the industry standard in airline travel.”

Qatar Airways is one of the fastest growing airlines operating one of the youngest fleets in the world. As global launch customer of the Airbus A350, passengers can benefit from a new boarding experience achieved by the unique dome-design entrance and wide seats with generous room in all classes of service thanks to a number of design developments.

This state-of-the-art aircraft comprises a two-class configuration with 36 seats in Business Class in a 1-2-1 configuration, featuring 80” fully flat beds and 17” HD in-flight entertainment screens, and 247 seats in Economy Class, each 18-inches wide in a 3-3-3 configuration, with up to a 32-inch pitch. Each individual Economy seat features a 10.6” in-flight entertainment screen, and more space at shoulder level for passengers in window seats, thanks to a vertical side wall panel design. From 2016 the A350 will additionally operate to both Philadelphia and New York from the airline’s international hub, Hamad International Airport, Doha.

Qatar Airways also operates the world’s largest commercial airliner, the Airbus A380. Featuring a tri-class configuration of First, Business and Economy Class seating over two decks, the Qatar Airways A380 is designed to offer the airline’s signature five-star service with outstanding in-flight entertainment and service on board.

There are a total of 517 seats, with eight in First Class, 48 in Business Class and 461 seats in Economy Class. First Class passengers benefit from 90-inch seat pitch, 180 degree flat-beds and 26-inch LCD TV screens while Business Class passengers experience 52-inch seat pitch, with 80-inch, 180 degree flat-beds and 17-inch touch screen monitors. In Economy Class, the onboard experience is enhanced with 10.6-inch entertainment screens and seats with a seven-inch recline.

For passengers wishing to remain connected while travelling Wi-Fi is available on the A380, A350, B787, A319, and select A320, A321, and A330-200 aircraft.

Now in its 18th year of operations, Qatar Airways has a modern fleet of 166 aircraft flying to 152 key business and leisure destinations across six continents.
