Ramada Colombo has embarked on a complete transformation of its product. A four-star hotel and one of the first in the city, it is today also a part of a leading international chain with over 7000 hotels worldwide. Alhambra Hotels Ltd., the owners and operators of Ramada Colombo, sets itself up for the island’s changing tourism landscape with an investment outlay of over Rs. 900 million in this grand renovation.

Encompassing all areas of the hotel from the lobby to rooms, restaurants and banqueting this renovation will be of contemporary design with all functionalities sought by the modernist traveller. The ceiling of the lobby will be elevated creating an impressively enhanced sense of space. The revamped restaurants and bar will showcase swank interiors with a café offering the option of alfresco dining. The hotels’ rooms will be upgraded to benchmark against the finest international properties in its class, to allure today’s business and leisure guest.

Commencing March 2013, a portion of Ramada Colombo’s rooms have already been taken in for renovation as part of the first phase. Having the largest square foot area per room of any city hotel allows for the crafting of interiors with a unique layout. These new rooms feature superior levels of comfort with large beds, mood lighting, soothing tones of colour and are even equipped with 42 inch LED screen TVs. The bathrooms, a pocket of luxury in themselves, feature a bathtub with a separate shower area and premium amenities.

In addition to Wi-Fi connectivity in all locations within the hotel, state of the art technology aided by a fibre optic backbone will ensure cutting edge IPTV facilities with multimedia streaming and interactive guest information systems. Customer needs will now be met at the touch of a button on the latest mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets.

In keeping with advances in the global travel industry, the enabling of eco-friendly processes are at the core of every aspect of investment, from efficient utilisation of resources to effective waste management. Additionally as part of the hotels values of equality, select rooms are designed entirely for special accessibility needs.

The hotel’s first phase of the renovation encompassing all 94 rooms will be completed by September 2013. What’s more, some of first guests to enjoy this fresh accommodation will be high profile delegates of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting scheduled for the last quarter of 2013. As Sri Lanka finds her worthy place in the competitive global sphere of tourism, Ramada Colombo looks forward to exciting times ahead.
