Ranil de Silva to lead Hemas hotels

Ranil de Silva joins the Hemas Group as Managing Director Serendib Hotels Plc with effect from 1 November 2010. He has also been appointed to the Directorate of Serendib Leisure Management Ltd.



 A Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants UK, Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and a Member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK, de Silva brings with him, years of financial acumen and experience in development and operational areas.

He began his career at Ernst & Young and then was overseas with a multi-national for 10 years. De Silva has wide experience locally in the apparel industry and retailing. He served as the Group CEO of the blue chip conglomerate, the DCSL Group prior to joining the Hemas Group as Managing Director, Serendib Hotels Plc.

Serendib group of hotels, the leisure arm of Hemas Holdings Plc, operates Hotel Serendib in Bentota, on the southern coast, the newly refurbished Club Hotel Dolphin in Waikkal on the coast north of Colombo, Kani Lanka Resort & Spa in Kalutara, and Hotel Sigiriya in Sri Lanka’s cultural triangle.

Hemas’ Club Hotel Dolphin Waikkal recently underwent a US$ 5.0 mn refurbishment and is now ready to welcome its Sri Lankan and foreign visitors this forthcoming festive and winter seasons, as a newer and better up-market property.

Kani Lanka Resort and Spa is spread across an 18 acre picturesque stretch of land situated at the tip of the river mouth of the Kalu Ganga in Kalutara, on the south western coast of Sri Lanka. The 105 room four-star resort enjoys a spectacular view of the river and the sea. A major development programme to add over 100 rooms is planned together with Minor International of Thailand.
